Ramzia and Nozanin, the first and second of five siblings, have lived with hearing impairment since birth. If they had been born in Korea, they could have received cochlear implants before 24 months and grown up learning the sounds of the world. But for a long time, these opportunities did not come to them.
However, in 2022, with the help of the Severance Foundation, they were able to receive cochlear implants in one ear. Although they had to return to their home country without specialized rehabilitation, they continued their hearing and speech training step by step with a devoted volunteer there.
"When I called the children, I witnessed the miracle of them responding to my voice.
I cannot express this miracle in words."
However, there are no hospitals in Tajikistan where individuals can receive regular hearing checkups and ongoing care for cochlear implants or hearing aids. As Ramzia and Nozanin grew, the shape of their ears changed, making it difficult to wear hearing aids on the other ear, and without a way to check for device malfunctions, they face the risk of losing sound again.
During this time, an outreach team visited and connected them with supporters who wanted to help. In October, this year, they were able to come to Korea through MediAccess for medical treatment.
Now, Ramzia and Nozanin have completed their treatment at Severance Hospital and hold hope for returning to a bright world of sound.
They need checkups every two years for life. As they grow, their ear shape is changing, making checkups during adolescence even more critical.
This Christmas, MediAccess has launched a Christmas support campaign to help Ramzia and Nozanin receive ongoing follow-up care.

Kia was born with a congenital cleft palate, which made it difficult for her to eat without spilling and caused her to struggle with swallowing food without water. To support the family, her father took on grueling work that even locals avoided in the Philippines, while her mother faced each difficult day caring for six children, including Kia and her younger sibling with developmental disabilities. Despite their struggles, the parents sought help at local hospitals, but doctors refused, stating that surgery was too risky due to Kia's developmental condition.
In this desperate situation, the family and their entire church prayed together. One day, a Korean outreach team happened to connect with Kia. The doctor on the team said, "I definitely want to help Kia smile brightly," and personally reached out to supporters and hospitals in Korea...
Kia's fever wouldn't go down, making surgery uncertain until the last moment
"She was spat on and kicked...
she was so afraid of people and would hide."
"When Kia came here and smiled at people,
Ah, there is hope for our Kia"
Finally, surrounded by warmth and love, Kia underwent surgery in Korea and began a new chapter in her life. After completing the surgery, Kia and her mother return to the Philippines with bright smiles.
Kia and her family will be forever grateful
to the kind supporters who made Princess Kia's miracle possible.

Kia and her family will be forever grateful to the kind supporters who made Princess Kia's miracle possible.
God bless you.
